Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Gerrard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Volkov!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Chris Dean and Ben Hemmingworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Gerrard misses
and Volkov counters with a one-two to the body.
Some wild striking there from Gerrard.
Gerrard pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Gerrard shoots in for a takedown but Volkov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Gerrard misses with a shot to the body
and Volkov counters with a one-two to the body.
Volkov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gerrard.
A punch combination from Volkov misses.
Gerrard tries to clinch
and Volkov counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gerrard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Volkov.
A telegraphed right hand from Gerrard misses the target.
Gerrard feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Volkovs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

It looks like Alexander Volkov has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Volkov misses with a few strikes there.
Stephen Gerrard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gerrard wants to clinch but Volkov slips to the side
and Volkov counters with a three punch combo that has Gerrard backing up. Gerrard nods at Volkov to acknowledge the strikes.
Gerrard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Volkov pinned against the cage. Volkov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No luck for Gerrard with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stephen Gerrard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gerrard dives in and grabs Volkov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Volkov pushes down on Gerrard's head and hops out.
Gerrard thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gerrard misses with a looping left.
Gerrard lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gerrard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Volkov's waist but Volkov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gerrard off to one side.
Gerrard swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gerrard drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Volkov right on the button. Volkov goes down! Gerrard follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Gerrard gets the win via TKO!
