Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dack Fayden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Shamrock! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fayden throws a series of punches but Shamrock moves out of range. A decent looking cross lands there for Fayden. Fayden fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shamrock sprawls well initially but Fayden persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Fayden content to control rather than advance. Fayden passes the guard and advances to mount! Fayden trying to control but he's not successful this time. Shamrock is trying to stand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shamrock is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Shamrock is squirming around, avoiding Fayden's attempts to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shamrock is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Shamrock is trying to stand but he's just given Fayden his back. Fayden controlling from the back. Fayden misses with punches from the back. Shamrock has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fayden is riding his opponent, not letting Shamrock buck him off. Fayden has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Shamrock! Can he survive? No! He's out! Fayden gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
