Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phillip Finnegan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derec Waller! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Finnegan waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Waller. Waller has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Waller there as he acknowledges the shot. Waller fails in his attempt to clinch. Waller showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Finnegan.
Finnegan darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Finnegan throws a big shot that misses. Waller misses with a body shot.
Waller drives through and clinches with Finnegan against the cage.
Finnegan lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. A right hand to the body from Waller.
Finnegan tries a body shot but Waller blocks it.
Finnegan misses with a punch on the inside.
Waller leaning his opponent against the cage. Waller is working Finnegan over against the cage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Finnegan misses with a hook from the clinch. Finnegan misses with some punches.
Finnegan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Waller told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Finnegan avoiding damage as Waller throws knees to the body.

Finnegan wants to get back to striking at distance but Waller won't allow it.

Finnegan is trying to push Waller away but Waller has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Finnegan swings wildly with an uppercut but Waller uses good head movement to avoid it. Waller gets through Finnegan's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Waller struggles to land a body shot inside as Finnegan controls his hands.
Come on Waller - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Finnegan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Finnegan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Waller lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Finnegan tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Waller's elbow. Finnegan tries to throw a body punch but Waller avoids it by throwing Finnegan back against the cage. Waller slowing the pace effectively. Finnegan throws a punch but it's blocked by Waller. Finnegan lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Waller keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Finnegan's efforts to push away. Waller has Finnegan pressed against the cage.
Finnegan misses with a hook from the clinch. Waller effectively controlling the action here. Waller lands a right hand that snaps the head of Finnegan backwards. Finnegan fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Waller misses with an elbow strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A bit of stalling here from Waller.

Finnegan wants to break the clinch but can't.

Finnegan blocks an elbow strike. Finnegan lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Waller lands a left hand that snaps the head of Finnegan backwards. A head punch on the inside from Finnegan fails to land. Waller utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Waller blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Waller misses with a knee strike.

Finnegan misses with a hook to the ribs.
Finnegan throws a punch but it's blocked by Waller.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Finnegan tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Waller's elbow. Waller lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Finnegan backwards. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Finnegan struggles to land a body shot inside as Waller controls his hands.

Finnegan tries to throw a body punch but Waller avoids it by throwing Finnegan back against the cage. Waller's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Finnegan misses with a short punch on the inside. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Finnegan breaks the clinch.
Waller needs to keep his hands up - Finnegan had a free shot at his head there. Finnegan takes one on the button. Waller lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Derec Waller will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Jab from Finnegan. Finnegan closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Waller! Finnegan dives in looking to finish! Waller is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
