Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Irwin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marek Walczak! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Irwin throws a hook to the side of Walczak's head but Walczak sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A jab from Irwin misses. Walczak throws a hook but Irwin blocks it. Walczak keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Irwin. A jab from Walczak misses. Walczak has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Irwin is landing a low percentage of strikes. Walczak will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Irwin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Alex Irwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Irwin misses with a lunging right hand
and Walczak counters with a nice double leg into guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Irwin is pulling down on Walczak's head. It's preventing any offense from Walczak, at least for the moment. Walczak trying to control but Irwin is working from the bottom. Walczak tries to free his leg and advance position but Irwin is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Irwin trying to control the position here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Walczak slips a straight right by Irwin. Irwin looks to land a left hand but Walczak moved out of range nicely. Walczak misses with an uppercut
letting Irwin counter with a right hand. Irwin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Irwin wants it to stay on the feet. Walczak avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Walczak takes one on the button.
It looks like Marek Walczak has been cut. Irwin drops Walczak with a left and a right! Oh, Walczak is hurt - Irwin dives into side control looking to finish!
Walczak is rocked! Irwin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walczak on the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Walczak tries to improve position but can't. Walczak is still in real trouble! Can Irwin finish him? A big shot lands for Irwin! That's hurt Walczak! Will he recover? Irwin fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
