Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dylan Kain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Birger Ivas!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Ivas. No joy for Kain on that attempt.
Kain throws a hook to the side of Ivas's head but Ivas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kain fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kain throws a right and a left that Ivas avoids nicely.

Ivas closes the distance and clinches.

Ivas manages to break the clinch.

Ivas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kain to the mat! Kain manages to get full guard.
Ivas wants to pass the guard but Kain is keeping the position.
Ivas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kain is staying active underneath Ivas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Ivas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kain defends it well.

Ivas wants to work for an arm triangle but Kain is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Ivas works his foot free and advances to mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kain is looking for a sweep. Ivas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ivas lands with a kick to the temple. Kain shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Kain has his takedown stuffed

and Ivas counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ivas is pressing down on Kain's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kain is holding on for now.
Kain regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kain looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kain has an active guard here but Ivas has managed to pass into half guard.

Kain tries to roll over but Ivas keeps him under control.
It looks like Ivas is going to stand back up.

Ivas is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kain doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ivas.

Kain slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Ivas is thwarting Kain's attempts to control the position.

Ivas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kain does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kain moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Kain looking for a guillotine here but Ivas defends easily.

Kain has his foot on Ivas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ivas works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ivas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ivas is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Birger Ivas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kain misses with a takedown
and Ivas counters with a head kick. That will keep Kain thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Dylan Kain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kain throws a series of punches but Ivas moves out of range.
Kain shoots and misses

Ivas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ivas advances to mount.
Kain wants to hold on but Ivas pushes him away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kain is desperately trying to improve his position but Ivas has a good base and remains in mount.
Ivas wants to control the pace but Kain is squirming around nicely.
Kain regains half guard.

Ivas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kain manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ivas trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kain's guard.

Kain has his feet on Ivas's thighs here. He's pushed Ivas off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Ivas screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
