Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alex Gurmorow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anthoney Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pettis closes the distance and clinches.
Gurmorow works on Pettis's body with a couple of short punches.

Gurmorow breaks the clinch.
Gurmorow throws a right hand that Pettis ducks under and follows up with a left that Pettis also avoids with ease.
Pettis slips a jab and a cross from Gurmorow.
Pettis ducks right into an uppercut from Gurmorow.
Gurmorow lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pettis circles away quickly and effectively.
Gurmorow lands with a cross.

Pettis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Gurmorow!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pettis looks up at the clock and then as Gurmorow takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pettis smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Pettis throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gurmorow on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Gurmorow throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Pettis looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gurmorow wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Pettis misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Gurmorow is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gurmorow tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Gurmorow bucks up and throws Pettis to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Pettis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gurmorow's waist but Gurmorow gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pettis off to one side.
Pettis tries for a takedown but Gurmorow circles away easily

and Gurmorow decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pettis's guard.
Gurmorow has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pettis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pettis looking for a triangle here. Gurmorow is fighting it but it looks tight! Pettis pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Gurmorow is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Anthoney Pettis!
After the fight, Anthoney Pettis was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
