PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Trey Anastasio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taneli Hauki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anastasio comes into the arena with Tweezer blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trey Anastasio!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Taneli Hauki!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hauki cracks a nice hook into Anastasio's ribs.
Hauki keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Anastasio.
Hauki scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Anastasio doesn't seem bothered though.

Anastasio changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hauki looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Anastasio working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Anastasio looking to control but instead Hauki has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Hauki wants to get back to full guard.
Anastasio trying to control from half guard but Hauki is working away.
Anastasio is looking to stall here but Hauki recovers full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anastasio not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Anastasio looking to pass the guard.
Anastasio advances to half guard.
Hauki regains full guard. Nicely done.
Anastasio trying to control but Hauki is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anastasio wants to pass the guard but Hauki is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Anastasio looking to sit in guard and control but Hauki gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Anastasio had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hauki defends it easily.
Anastasio is trying to control the position but Hauki postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Anastasio is on top in guard.
Anastasio controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Anastasio wants to control from the top but Hauki keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Anastasio is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hauki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Trey Anastasio just wasn't active enough.
Anastasio misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hauki.
Anastasio takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A head kick misses from Hauki.
Hauki throws the kick towards the body but Anastasio avoids it.
Anastasio takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Hauki throws a nice looking combination but Anastasio bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Anastasio misses with a hook.
Good shot there by Hauki.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd cheers as Hauki lands an impressive looking overhand right. Anastasio doesn't seem phased though.
Trey Anastasio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hauki misses with a combination
and Anastasio connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hauki delivers a nice body kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Anastasio looks for the body kick but Hauki saw that one coming.
Anastasio shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Hauki is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Hauki works the jab nicely.


It looks like Trey Anastasio has been cut.
Anastasio throws a series of punches but Hauki avoids them all with ease.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Taneli Hauki will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Trey Anastasio's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Anastasio shoots in and drives through. Hauki sprawls well.
Anastasio misses with a takedown attempt - Hauki sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Hauki. Anastasio shrugs it off though.
Hauki has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Anastasio's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hauki under the eye.
Hauki swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Anastasio stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hauki.
Anastasio wants to slow Hauki down by chopping away at his legs.
Anastasio throws a left and a right that both miss
and Anastasio takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Anastasio is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hauki sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trey Anastasio. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Hauki - that will leave a mark!
Anastasio gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Hauki counters with a one-two to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Anastasio takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Anastasio tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hauki was well out of range. Poor timing from Anastasio.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hauki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Anastasio moves away.
Hauki cracks Anastasio with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Anastasio tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Hauki pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Anastasio is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Taneli Hauki!

Jumping up and down and very excited, Taneli Hauki waved his t-shirt featuring Speedy Supps + Laundry's logo in front of the cameras.
