Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Nichols (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nichols comes to the cage accompanied by War-The Process. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carl Nichols! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pedro Romero! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Joseph Jones and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Nichols misses. Nichols tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Romero paws at him with a jab and circles away. A telegraphed right hand from Nichols misses the target. Romero uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nichols. Romero ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Romero bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Romero steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nichols. A decent looking cross lands there for Romero. Nichols lands a lovely overhand right. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nichols has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nichols there as he acknowledges the shot. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Nichols checks a leg kick. Nichols shoots for a takedown but Romero saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A punch combination from Nichols misses. Romero staying out of range there. Nichols avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Romero avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Romero slips under a jab. Nichols misses with a straight right. Nichols misses with an uppercut. Romero saw that one coming. Romero uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nichols. Romero displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Romero has managed to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nichols scores with a nice hook to the head. Romero pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nichols keeps the fight on the outside. Nichols doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Nichols is breathing heavily. Nice combo by Romero! Oh, that's hurt him - Nichols falls to the canvas and Romero follows him into side control.
It looks like Carl Nichols has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Romero tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Romero decides to stand back up. Romero steps back and let's Nichols get back to his feet. Nichols looks to land a right hand but Romero moved out of range. Romero closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Romero takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Romero seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Romero is looking for a kimura here.
Romero stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Romero bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nichols's head. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Romero!
Romero connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Nichols misses with an uppercut. Romero saw that one coming. Romero misses with a takedown attempt - Nichols sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nichols rushes Romero and presses him up against the cage. Nichols scores with a shoulder strike. Nichols breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Romero lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. A nice combination there by Romero.
Nichols closes the distance but Romero moves to the side and Romero counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Nichols is rocked! Carl Nichols seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Romero rushes Nichols and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Romero lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Nichols or not. Romero can't break the clinch.

Romero tries to clinch up. Nichols tries to clinch and Romero counters with a two punch combo. A nice combination there by Romero.
Oh Nichols is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Romero lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Nichols falls backwards - clearly groggy! Romero dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pedro Romero!
