Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Barroso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joao Barroso will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Buddy Stone! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Barroso! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barroso throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stone was covering up waiting for the punch and Barroso finishes the takedown easily into guard. Barroso's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barroso manages to get himself to full guard.

Stone stands and steps away. Barroso gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Barroso closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stone's guard. Stone might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Stone keeping moving, preventing Barroso from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stone utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barroso postures up in Stone's guard and throws a big left but Stone blocks it. Barroso trying to control but Stone is working from the bottom. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Barroso throws a big right hand that misses. Barroso stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Joao Barroso was stalling too much, according to the referee. Barroso stuffs the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barroso is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stone's half guard. Barroso is looking for a kimura here.
Barroso is looking to advance position but Stone won't allow it.

Barroso thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stone's head. Barroso throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Stone is looking to control Barroso's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stone avoid being mounted? Barroso tries to stand but can't do so whilst Stone controls his leg. Stone is trying to maintain the position but Barroso is very close to passing his half guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Buddy Stone wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Barroso throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stone was covering up waiting for the punch and Barroso finishes the takedown easily into guard. Barroso seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Barroso prevents Stone from getting back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joao Barroso dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Barroso closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. You can see the frustration on Stone's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Barroso is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Barroso tries to stand but Stone is controlling his head. Stone is not content to let Barroso control the position. Barroso goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Stone has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Barroso but great work by Stone.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stone decides to take the fight back to the feet. Stone tries for a takedown but Barroso sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Barroso clinches with his opponent.
Barroso breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Barroso shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stone manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Barroso trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Stone wants to sweep here but Barroso controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barroso wants to stand and escape but instead Stone has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Stone gets to his feet. Barroso looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Stone circles away from the clinch attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Barroso tries to clinch and Stone counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Barroso is looking to control Stone's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Barroso avoid being mounted? Barroso is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Stone is staying active.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joao Barroso. Stone shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Stone showed some decent athleticism there. Barroso regains full guard. Nicely done. Barroso is breathing heavily. Stone decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Barroso darts in trying to clinch and Stone counters with a nice double leg into side control. Barroso won't be happy with that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stone taking a breather here. Stone wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Barroso, who protects the arm well. Stone stands up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barroso shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stone manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Buddy Stone dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Barroso darts in and clinches Stone up against the cage. Stone jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Barroso walks away with a smile on his face. Stone gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Stone looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Barroso! Barroso is trying to improve his position. Barroso manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Barroso wants to improve his position but Stone is controlling well.
Stone stands up from half guard. Barroso tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stone swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stone scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Stone has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Barroso shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Barroso showed some decent athleticism there. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Barroso is just content to waste time from the top position. Stone takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Barroso wants to stand and escape but instead Stone has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Barroso decides to stand back up. Barroso steps back and let's Stone get back to his feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Stone enables Barroso to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stone manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Barroso trying to control but Stone is working from the bottom. Barroso must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Barroso trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stone is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that's the end of the fight! Joao Barroso comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Barroso has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
