Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sheldon Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaun Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cooper comes into the arena with star trek theme blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Sheldon Cooper has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sheldon Cooper seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sheldon Cooper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shaun Johnson! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cooper lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Johnson backs up against the cage.
Johnson getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Cooper throws a nice inside leg kick. Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Cooper, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Cooper against the cage but Cooper circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cooper takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Johnson avoids the body shot from Cooper.
Johnson connects with a body shot that sends Cooper's belly button to the back. Cooper misses with a straight right. Cooper throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range. Johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cooper throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Johnson blocks a head kick by Cooper.
Cooper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Johnson missing with a left hand there. Cooper was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Johnson blocks a jab. Johnson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Johnson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Johnson throws out a loose jab but Cooper uses good head movement to avoid it. Johnson misses with a series of wild punches.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Cooper does a little dance to reset his feet. Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson avoids the body shot from Cooper.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Cooper sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A momentary lapse in concentration from Cooper enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cooper manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Cooper gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Johnson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Johnson wants to sweep but no luck. Cooper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Cooper would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Johnson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cooper defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooper preventing the sweep. Cooper wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Cooper gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cooper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cooper wants it to stay on the feet. Sheldon Cooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Johnson. Johnson jabbing away but nothing is landing. Johnson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Johnson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Cooper tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Cooper connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Johnson shoots in and bounces Cooper off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Johnson told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Cooper wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson throws an elbow that misses. Cooper uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Johnson's guard. Nice move by Cooper! Cooper tries to stand but Johnson is controlling from the bottom. Johnson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cooper! Johnson looking to finish Cooper with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cooper! Poor strikes thrown by Johnson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Johnson scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Johnson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Johnson in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Johnson lands a big elbow. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Johnson scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Cooper?

Cooper is rocked! Cooper in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Oh Cooper is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Johnson lands a big elbow - Cooper is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Cooper is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Shaun Johnson! Shaun Johnson seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
