Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Koni Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John McGuirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maximus comes into the arena with Maui Boy blaring out of the sound system. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Koni Maximus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John McGuirk!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximus chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McGuirk can pounce on him.
John McGuirk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maximus has his takedown stuffed
and McGuirk counters with a slapping leg kick.
McGuirk is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Maximus.
McGuirk closes the distance and clinches.
Maximus fails to pull guard.
Maximus drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McGuirk gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Koni Maximus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maximus goes for a takedown attempt but McGuirk pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
McGuirk misses with a double jab.
McGuirk moves in looking to clinch but Maximus pushes him off.
McGuirk tries to clinch
and Maximus counters with a single leg into guard. McGuirk didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maximus won't allow McGuirk to get back to his feet.
We've been hearing good reports from Maximus's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
McGuirk is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Maximus pushes down on McGuirk's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
McGuirk is looking to control Maximus's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McGuirk avoid being mounted?
McGuirk told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Maximus frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maximus working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. McGuirk looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Maximus! Submission of the night perhaps?

Koni Maximus took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
