Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones's entrance music is Land Down Under. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
Jones throws a nice outside leg kick.

Jones clinches with his opponent.
Jackson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Jones prevents Jackson from breaking the clinch.
Jones looking to stall.
Jackson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Jackson managing to block the knees to the body from Jones.
Jones unloads a knee to the mid-section. Jackson lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Jackson tries to lock up and control but Jones gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

BOOM! Jones connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Jones jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jackson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Jones moves into the clinch.

It looks like Michael Jackson has been cut.

Jones managing to control the position.
Jackson won't allow Jones to get back to his feet.

Jones escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there.
Jones not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jackson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there.

Jones escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jackson stands up from Jones's guard - Jackson perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Jackson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Jackson persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Jackson throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Jackson pushes him off.
Jones pushes Jackson away with a front kick.
Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes Jones against the ropes but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jones connects with a couple of short punches.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jones's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Jones loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Jones trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.

Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Jones chips away with some ground and pound.
Jones forces his way into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Jones works his way into full mount!
Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Jones's attempts to control the action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Jones counters with an inside leg kick.

Robert Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones misses with a takedown
and Jackson counters with a left and a right that stings Jones.
Jackson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackson won't be happy with that.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jackson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jones lands an elbow.

Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jones looks up at the clock and then as Jackson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jones smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jackson knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jackson for a finish.
