Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Erick Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Robert Bennett!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots for a takedown but Bennett saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bennett lands with a straight right. Silva didn't see that one coming.
Bennett has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Silva looks for a takedown but Bennett sprawls well.
Silva takes a jab right on the kisser.
Nice uppercut lands for Bennett. That snapped Silva's head back.
Erick Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bennett throws the left hand but Silva avoids the punch easily.
Donk. Bennett catches Silva right on the button with a cross.
Bennett works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bennett connects with a good right hand that stumbles Silva. Silva circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Silva is rocked!
It looks like Erick Silva has been cut.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Bennett shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Erick Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bennett cracks Silva with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Silva looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Bennett finish him?
Oh Silva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bennett lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Silva up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Bennett from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Silva's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Robert Bennett!
During a confident post fight interview, Robert Bennett thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
