Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Brady!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Acosta!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acosta closes the distance but Brady moves to the side

and Brady counters with a single leg into guard. Acosta didn't expect that.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Brady works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brady is pressing down on Acosta's thigh, looking to free his foot. Acosta is holding on for now.
Brady is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Acosta should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brady content to control rather than advance.
Brady trying to mount his opponent but Acosta defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brady is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Acosta is just riding it out for now. Brady eventually gives up the hold.
Acosta really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brady. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brady wants to control but Acosta is keeping him busy.

Brady seems to be working for a kimura but Acosta defends the submission attempt.
Brady takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brady looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Well, if Brady is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Acosta is staying active underneath Brady, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Brady is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Acosta is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
