Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Craig Regan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Smit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Craig Regan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Smit! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Regan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smit tries a head kick but it misses.
Smit tries to clinch up. Regan wants to clinch up but Smit keeps it at a distance. Nice sprawl there from Smit as Regan shoots in. Smit tries for a takedown but Regan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Regan throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Smit moves out of range of the body kick. Smit swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Regan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Regan stuffs the takedown. Smit misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smit fails to land the takedown. Craig Regan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Smit. Regan has closed the distance and engaged Smit in a clinch.
Smit drops down looking for an ankle pick but Regan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Regan rushes Smit and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Regan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smit gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Regan is breathing heavily. Smit throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Smit looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Smit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Regan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smit is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Regan preventing the sweep. Regan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Smit darts in and clinches Regan up against the cage. Regan keeps control of Smit as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Smit has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Regan uses from the top position. Smit is trying to keep Regan in close.

Smit looking to hit a scissor sweep but Regan is one step ahead there. Smit manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Regan manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Smit missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Smit in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Smit trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Regan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Regan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smit manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Regan pushing down on Smit's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Smit is looking to improve his position.

Craig Regan dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Regan tries to land a front kick but Smit steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Smit will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smit misses with a straight right. Regan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smit, pushing him back against the cage. Smit tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Regan smiles and moves away.

Regan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Regan controlling the pace. Smit blocking the ground and pound attempt from Regan. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Regan jumps into side control! Smit throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Regan decides to stand back up. Smit closes the distance but Regan moves to the side and Regan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Smit should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Smit connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Regan's hands. Smit wants to clinch up but Regan keeps it at a distance. Regan circles away from the clinch attempt and Regan moves into the clinch. Smit manages to break the clinch.

Regan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Regan trying to pass the guard but Smit defending well. Regan stops Smit from getting back to his feet.

Regan pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Smit is desperately trying to improve his position but Regan has a good base and remains in mount. Regan avoids the attempt from Smit to control. Regan controlling from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Regan cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Regan tries to control but Smit wriggling away. Smit tries to get back to half guard but can't. Regan trying to control but Smit is having none of it. Regan with the ground and pound from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Smit is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Smit tries to hold on but Regan postures up. Regan controlling the position easily from mount. Craig Regan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Regan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Smit for as long as he can get away with.
And that's the end of the fight! Craig Regan showed his dominance in that final round. Well Regan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
