Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Seamon!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seamon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Seamon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Seamon trying to control the position from guard on top but Evans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Seamon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Evans looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Steve Seamon hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Seamon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Evans tries to avoid it but Seamon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Evans to the ground. Evans escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

so Seamon counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Evans escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Seamon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Seamon passes Evans's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Seamon stalling.

Seamon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Steve Seamon was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Seamon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Evans's half guard.

Evans is trying to maintain the position but Seamon is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Evans is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Seamon content to control rather than advance.

Seamon decides to stand up.
Seamon shoots for a double leg takedown but Evans sprawls well. He's pushed Seamon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Evans throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Seamon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Evans ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Seamon moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Seamon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Evans sprawls well. Evans wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Seamon gets slowly back to his feet.
Nick Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Seamon.

The fight stays on the outside here - Seamon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Seamon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Evans sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Seamon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Evans as he avoids it easily.
Seamon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Seamon tries to clinch up.

Evans drives through with a takedown into guard.
Evans works over Seamon with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evans throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Seamon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Evans wants to control from the top but Seamon keeps moving.

Seamon looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Evans stands and throws Seamon's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Seamon is trying to buck Evans off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Evans's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Seamon misses with a takedown attempt - Evans sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
No luck for Seamon with that takedown attempt.
Evans throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Evans swats away the attempt to clinch by Seamon.
Evans circles away from the clinch attempt.
Evans throws out a leg kick but Seamon moves out of range and Evans only half commits.
Seamon doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Evans counters with a single leg into guard. Seamon didn't expect that.
Nick Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Seamon.

Evans works over Seamon with some ground and pound from guard.
Seamon keeping moving, preventing Evans from controlling successfully.
Evans won't allow Seamon to get back to his feet.
Steve Seamon has got the better of the ground game so far.
Evans stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Seamon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Evans's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Evans has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Seamon defend it? Evans steps over the head and cranks it - Seamon is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Evans!
