The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Nemrik.

It looks like Gordo Nemrik has been cut.

Thompson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nemrik on the ground.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nemrik advances nicely into full mount.
The referee warns Thompson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
