Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex King!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newson tries to close the distance and clinch up but King swats him away and circles back towards the center.
King shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Newson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Newson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

King has his foot on Newson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Newson works his way back into a safe position though.
King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Newson is one step ahead there.

Newson got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Newson has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alex King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
