Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roco Baloni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Richert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baloni comes to the cage accompanied by DIES IRAE superb classic secuence by Mozart from his Requiem Trully AWESOME. Matt Richert has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Richert.
Baloni throws a nice head kick!
Baloni misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Baloni walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Richert checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Baloni throws a head kick that misses.
Baloni throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Roco Baloni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baloni comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Richert throws a right hand that Baloni ducks under and follows up with a left that Baloni also avoids with ease.
Baloni goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Baloni swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Richert counters with a nice double leg into side control. Baloni won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Baloni is not content to let Richert control the position.

The ground and pound from Richert seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Richert lands some shots froms side control.
Baloni is looking for a sweep.
Richert grinds an elbow into Baloni's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baloni takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Richert is looking to take a break and control but Baloni is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Richert is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Baloni knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Richert goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Baloni rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Richert's guard! Nice work there by Baloni!

Baloni won't allow Richert to sweep him here.
Baloni tries to stand but Richert is controlling from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Baloni fails to land with a series of punches.

Baloni throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Baloni throws a nice looking combination but Richert bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Richert dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Baloni. That did some damage!
Richert dodges the punch combination from Baloni.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Richert scores with a nice strike.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Richert, as that shot connected.
Richert shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Richert was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Richert looking for a guillotine from mount but Baloni is having none of it.
Richert has control of Baloni's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Baloni regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Matt Richert dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Richert changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baloni looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Richert throws an elbow but Baloni slips to the side and avoids it well.

Richert wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Baloni, who protects the arm well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Baloni regains half guard, as Richert was trying to land strikes.

Richert loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Baloni is looking for a triangle but Richert pushes his legs off easily.

Baloni is trying to keep Richert in close.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Richert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Baloni swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Richert throws and elbow that misses. Baloni uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Richert's guard. Nice move by Baloni!
Richert wants to improve his position but instead Baloni has moved into half guard.
Richert is looking to improve his position.
Baloni passes to side control.

Richert looking for a sweep but Baloni has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Baloni avoids the attempt from Richert to control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Roco Baloni will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Richert takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

and Richert decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Baloni's guard.

Baloni is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Baloni seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Richert wants to get back to full guard.
Richert is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Baloni's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Baloni's back!

Baloni grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Richert thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Richert lands a shot to the head.
Baloni might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Richert misses with a punch to the head.
Richert misses with punches from the back.
Baloni looking very determined here, making life difficult for Richert.
Richert punches the canvas rather than the man.
Baloni trying to control the action but Richert just sinks the hooks in.
Richert somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Richert is striking from the back but Baloni escapes and manages to recover to half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Baloni stuffs the takedown attempt from Richert. Richert gets slowly back to his feet.
Richert misses with a wild combination.
Baloni throws a right hand that Richert ducks under and follows up with a left that Richert also avoids with ease.
Richert throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Baloni.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Baloni misses with a double jab
and Richert counters with a takedown into side control.
Baloni tries to improve position but can't.
And that's the end of the fight!
Matt Richert comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Richert has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
