PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Brawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Napier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robbie Brawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Napier!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Napier fails with an attempt to clinch.
Napier shoots for a double leg takedown but Brawler sprawls well. He's pushed Napier's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Brawler staying out of range there.
Brawler swats away the attempt to clinch by Napier.
Napier avoids a punch combination nicely.
Napier has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Brawler stuffs the takedown.
Brawler ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Napier moves away.
A jab lands there for Brawler.
Brawler throws a right and a left that both miss.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Napier.
Brawler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Napier wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Brawler wants to control but Napier postures up.
Brawler is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Napier is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Brawler sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Napier has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Napier lands a couple of digs.
Napier throws a strike but Brawler rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Napier tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Brawler in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Napier pulls Brawler in close to prevent any damage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brawler wants to get up but he can't break Napier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Napier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Napier closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Brawler uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Napier.

Napier tries to score a body lock takedown but Brawler shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Brawler is trying to force a seperation but Napier has the dominant position.
Brawler tries to break free but Napier pushes him back against the cage.
Napier creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Napier keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Brawler's efforts to push away.
Napier pushes off an throws an elbow but Brawler leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Napier bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Brawler is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Napier has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Napier tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Napier tries to score with some ground and pound. Brawler controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Napier wants to control but Brawler is keeping him busy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

BOOM! Napier connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Napier can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brawler is looking to escape.

Jack Napier showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Brawler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Napier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Napier goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Brawler tries to bum rush Napier with a series of wild strikes but Napier uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Brawler throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Napier on the side of the head.
Napier tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Brawler defends well and Napier ends up having to push Brawler into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Brawler defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Napier.
Robbie Brawler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Napier.
Napier fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brawler avoids it really well and circles away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Napier in particular looking to stall.
Brawler is not content to let Napier control the position.
Brawler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Napier is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brawler swats away the attempt to clinch by Napier.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Napier shoots for a takedown but Brawler saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Napier tries to clinch up but Brawler circles away and keeps his distance.
Jack Napier is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Napier.

Jack Napier comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Napier has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
