Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Faaloua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Faaloua! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson clinches with his opponent.
Jackson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Faaloua pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jackson fails with the takedown and Faaloua counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Faaloua has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Faaloua misses with a head kick.
Jackson fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Faaloua turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Jackson gets tackled into the cage by Faaloua. Faaloua maintains the clinch. Jackson successfully pulls guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Faaloua's corner is telling him to maintain position. Faaloua must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Faaloua is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Jackson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Faaloua is looking to defend but Jackson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Faaloua! Jackson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Faaloua taps out and this one is all over!
