PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Kimmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimmo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Roni Size-Bite The Bullet. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Robinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Kimmo!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Topper Green and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kimmo's waist but Kimmo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robinson off to one side.
Kimmo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Robinson.
Kimmo dodges the punch combination from Robinson.

Kimmo moves into the clinch.
Robinson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kimmo tries to stall but Robinson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Robinson is working for takedown but Kimmo is calmly controlling the position for now.
Robinson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kimmo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Robinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Robinson wants the takedown. Kimmo is fighting it off but Robinson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kimmo's guard against the cage.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Kimmo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Robinson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Robinson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Robinson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Robinson is pushing down on Kimmo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kimmo is fighting to maintain full guard but Robinson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Robinson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kimmo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Robinson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kimmo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kimmo is trying to get back to full guard.

Robinson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kimmo defends it well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kimmo pushes Robinson off looking to stand but Robinson dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Robinson shoots in for a takedown but Kimmo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kimmo throws a nice looking combination but Robinson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Robinson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kimmo tries to clinch there but Robinson circles away.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kimmo.
Robinson throws a low kick but Kimmo moves out of range easily.
Kimmo tries to land a front kick but Robinson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Kimmo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kimmo wants it to stay on the feet.

Kimmo attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Kimmo digs a good hook to Robinson's body.

Robinson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kimmo to the ground. Robinson is now in Kimmo's guard.
Robinson lands a couple of digs.

Kimmo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Robinson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Robinson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kimmo can't keep his opponent in guard - Robinson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kimmo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Robinson is working away from the top position though.

Robinson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kimmo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Robinson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Robinson's back!

Kimmo is hanging on to Robinson's back as he tries to escape.

Robinson staying busy and making it hard for Kimmo to control.
Kimmo throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kimmo's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chris Robinson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Kimmo with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Robinson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Chris Robinson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Robinson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kimmo swivels and escapes.
Kimmo wants to clinch up but Robinson keeps it at a distance.
Kimmo dodges the punch combination from Robinson.
Kimmo misses with a head kick.
Kimmo cracks Robinson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Robinson wants to take the fight to the mat but Kimmo manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Robinson avoids the elbow strike from Kimmo, against the cage.

Robinson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kimmo feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Robinson's calf.
Robinson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Michael Kimmo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Robinson ducks right into an uppercut from Kimmo.
Robinson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Kimmo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Robinson.
Robinson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Kimmo fails to land with a series of punches.
Kimmo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Robinson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kimmo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Kimmo darts in and clinches Robinson up against the cage.
Michael Kimmo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Robinson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kimmo gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Robinson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kimmo turns into him and now he's in Robinson's guard.

Kimmo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Robinson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kimmo has managed to get both his arms back between Robinson's legs - danger averted.
Kimmo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kimmo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kimmo postures up in Robinson's guard and throws a big left but Robinson blocks it.

Robinson is looking for a triangle but Kimmo pushes his legs off easily.
Kimmo wants to control from the top but Robinson keeps moving.

Robinson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kimmo defends it easily.
Kimmo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Robinson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Chris Robinson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
