Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Farrohk Madhi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Cowan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cowan breaks the clinch.
Madhi lands a leg kick that knocks Cowan off balance momentarily.

Cowan is trying to push Madhi away but Madhi has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Madhi jumps guard and drags Cowan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Madhi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cowan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Madhi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cowan wants to control but Madhi is keeping busy and won't allow it.

and Madhi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cowan won't be happy with that.

Madhi decides to stand back up. Madhi steps back and let's Cowan get back to his feet.
Madhi scores with a one two! Cowan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Jimmy Cowan has been cut.

Madhi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cowan to the mat! Cowan manages to get full guard.

Madhi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cowan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Madhi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cowan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Madhi swivels and escapes.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Madhi stalks Cowan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cowan's face. Cowan staggers backwards, shaken.

Madhi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Well Madhi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
