Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raleigh Harris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ara Givi! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Chris Dean and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Givi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Harris's guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Givi trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Harris is looking to stand up but Givi isn't so interested in that idea. Harris looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Givi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Givi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harris swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Givi showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ara Givi wasn't active enough on the ground. Harris looks to land a body kick but Givi moved away. Givi instigates a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Givi has Harris pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Harris manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Harris works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Givi pulls Harris in close to prevent any damage. Harris wants to get up but he can't break Givi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Harris throwing strikes but missing. Givi is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Harris frees his head nicely. Oh but Givi has switched to an armbar! Harris is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
