The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santiago blocks the body kick.
Santiago fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Garcilazo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Santiago gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Garcilazo counters with a low kick, right behind Santiago 's knee. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nice takedown defense from Garcilazo. No joy for Santiago on that attempt. Garcilazo darts in and clinches Santiago up against the cage. Garcilazo gets underhooks to prevent Santiago's takedown attempt.

Santiago is rocked! Garcilazo has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Santiago with a lazy takedown attempt and Garcilazo counters with a nice body shot. Oh Santiago is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Santiago is breathing heavily. Garcilazo lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Santiago up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Garcilazo from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Santiago's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marty Garcilazo! Marty Garcilazo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
