PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Falcao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cowl Hefernon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Falcao comes to the cage accompanied by Screwdriver- White Stripes. Cowl Hefernon acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hefernon tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Falcao counters with a stiff right hand.
Falcao has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Pitbull MMA in the buildup to the fight.

and Falcao moves into the clinch.
Falcao has had enough of the clinch but Hefernon keeps him there for the moment.
Hefernon using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Falcao has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Hefernon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hefernon throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Falcao blocks it with crossed arms.
Falcao lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hefernon backwards.
Falcao is trying to push Hefernon away but Hefernon has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Hefernon tries to stall but Falcao uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Hefernon goes for a takedown attempt but Falcao pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Falcao counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Falcao wants to pass the guard but Hefernon is keeping the position.
Falcao controls from within his opponent's guard.

Falcao is working Hefernon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Falcao cracks Hefernon with a solid left hand.
Falcao lands a couple of elbows.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Falcao's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Falcao postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Falcao might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Falcao lands a couple of digs.

Hefernon is rocked!
Falcao keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hefernon's head.
Hefernon is still in real trouble! Can Falcao finish him?
Falcao tries to free his leg and advance position but Hefernon is retaining full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hefernon wants to sweep here but Falcao controlling him for the moment.
Falcao advances to half guard.
Falcao seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Falcao is working for a kimura but Hefernon is defending it quite comfortably.

Hefernon is trying to control but can't.
Hefernon seems to have recovered his senses.
Falcao controlling the pace.
Hefernon wants to get back to full guard.
Hefernon is refusing to be controlled, as Falcao sits in half guard.
Falcao drops an elbow to the side of Hefernon's head.
Hefernon wants to get back to his feet.
Falcao lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Falcao postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Hefernon badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Falcao around the waist but Falcao pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Falcao is the winner by TKO! Falcao jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

In his post fight interview, Ricardo Falcao started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
