0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Madison! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Francis DeMontford and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Madison changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Montoya tries to avoid it but Madison manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Montoya to the ground. Montoya escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Madison closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Madison drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Wiley Montoya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Madison. Madison is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Montoya gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Montoya really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Montoya is trying to force a seperation but Madison has the dominant position. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Madison as Montoya tries to tie him up. Montoya manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Madison thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Madison drops back looking for a leg! Montoya is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Montoya manages to kick Madison off! Madison jumps back into Montoya's guard. Madison drops back, looking for a kneebar! Montoya looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Montoya looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Montoya!
That's one minute gone in the round. Madison is trying to improve his position. Madison keeps trying to improve his position. Madison manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Madison is defending against the submission attempts here by Montoya.
