Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Stephen Griffiths! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrew Holland! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot by Holland. Holland thows a body shot but no joy. Jab from Holland. Griffiths lands a leg kick that knocks Holland off balance momentarily. Holland avoids the head kick by Griffiths.
Holland throws a nice outside leg kick. Holland tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Holland looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Holland misses the jab. Holland throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Griffiths stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. That kick from Holland tenderised Griffiths's leg. Griffiths is trying to keep his angry face on. Griffiths takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Holland throws a sloppy body shot
and Griffiths counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Holland misses with a low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holland scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Griffiths doesn't seem bothered though. Holland just misses with a punch to the body.
Holland cracks Griffiths with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Griffiths manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Holland on his heels. He'll look to pass Holland's guard now, I'm sure. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Griffiths seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Griffiths is standing up over Holland. Holland looks to escape but Griffiths dives into side control.
Holland told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Griffiths tries for a kimura but Holland is defending well. Griffiths tries for a kimura but Holland is defending well.

Let's see if Holland can do anything to dispel that myth. This has been an exciting period of action! Griffiths is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Holland knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Griffiths is working to tighten his grip on Holland's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Holland has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Griffiths is really squeezing tight and eventually Holland passes out! Griffiths breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
