The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karakhian scores with a hook to the body. Nikolay takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Karakhian keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nikolay.
Nikolay throws a poor cross that misses
and Karakhian counters with a body kick that stops Nikolay in his tracks momentarily.
Nikolay misses with a hook
and Karakhian counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Nikolay thinking.
Nikolay throws a hook to the side of Karakhian's head but Karakhian sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Karakhian moves out of range of the strikes.
Nikolay sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Both fighters circling a little - Karakhian finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Valuev Nikolay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nikolay fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Karakhian to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Karakhian looks to clinch but Nikolay throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Karakhian taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
