Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alex King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rodi Kvention!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kvention is trying to defend but King finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
King is trying to control the action in half guard but Kvention is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kvention wants to get back to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kvention can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kvention slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
King postures up.
King stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kvention swivels though and keeps the full guard.
King's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Kvention working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. King doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. King manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kvention is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kvention is looking for a sweep. King is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

King prevents Kvention from improving his position.
King is taking a breather. Kvention says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Alex King just wasn't active enough.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

King is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Kvention is just content to waste time from the top position. King takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.

Kvention feints and as King raises his hands in defense, Kvention changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

King is looking for a triangle but Kvention pushes his legs off easily.
Kvention must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

King has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kvention can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rodi Kvention.

Kvention shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kvention showed some decent athleticism there.

King wants to get back to his feet.
King wants to sweep but Kvention has passed to side control!
Kvention tries to move to mount but King blocks the move with his legs.
King wants to control but Kvention postures up.

Kvention wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by King, who protects the arm well.
King is not content to let Kvention control the position.
King manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
King wants to pass to mount but Kvention is defending the position.
King not doing much here.
Kvention keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

King trying to control the action but Kvention is working from the bottom.
Kvention has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. King is working away from the top position though.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kvention as he avoids it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and King counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kvention keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rodi Kvention will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

King drives through with a takedown into Kvention's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

King stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kvention swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kvention takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
King slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
King works to advance to full mount. Kvention defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
King tries to control but Kvention wriggling away.

King working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Kvention turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips King off and cradles Kvention's limp body as King celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Alex King!
