Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joel Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pawel Pawlak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pawlak shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Charles manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Charles has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pawlak is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Charles.

Charles fails with an attempt to clinch.
Charles wants to clinch up but Pawlak keeps it at a distance.
Pawlak manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Charles on his heels. He'll look to pass Charles's guard now, I'm sure.

Charles wants to control from the top but Pawlak keeps moving.
Pawlak is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pawel Pawlak hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Pawlak seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Charles does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well Pawlak has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
