Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
36 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Karim Chamakh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Damian Wolkowski! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wolkowski takes a swing at Chamakh's ribcage but misses. Wolkowski misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wolkowski throws a hook to the side of Chamakh's head but Chamakh sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Wolkowski misses with a takedown attempt - Chamakh sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Wolkowski fails with a takedown attempt. Wolkowski throws a combination that misses and Chamakh counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wolkowski! It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Chamakh wants to control but Wolkowski is keeping him busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chamakh is putting a hurting on Wolkowski here, landing some big shots from side control. Chamakh scores with punches from side control. Chamakh in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wolkowski is throwing a few token shots, despite Chamakh being in side control. Chamakh throws a strike aimed at the side of Wolkowski's head but Wolkowski avoids it well. Chamakh is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Wolkowski's shoulder. That is not cool. Wolkowski tries to buck Chamakh off but Chamakh is having none of it. Chamakh scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Wolkowski to see if he's OK. Wolkowski is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Wolkowski manages to get back to half guard. Chamakh misses with a head shot. Wolkowski uses the momentum to regain guard. Wolkowski is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chamakh trying to control but Wolkowski is working from the bottom. Wolkowski looking for a sweep. Not yet Wolkowski, not yet. Chamakh postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wolkowski manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wolkowski misses with some ground and pound and Chamakh recovers position to half guard. Wolkowski is looking to advance position but Chamakh won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chamakh avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wolkowski. Wolkowski looking for a submission but Chamakh manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Wolkowski being controlled here momentarily. Wolkowski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chamakh swivels though and keeps the full guard. Wolkowski missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wolkowski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wolkowski is looking to work some ground and pound but Chamakh has wrist control. Chamakh working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wolkowski. Wolkowski lands a couple of decent looking shots. Chamakh is controlling Wolkowski's posture. Chamakh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Chamakh keeping moving, preventing Wolkowski from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wolkowski content to stall in guard here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Karim Chamakh will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Chamakh stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chamakh wants it to stay on the feet. Chamakh stuffs the takedown. Wolkowski misses with a wild combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wolkowski is defended easily by Chamakh. Karim Chamakh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Wolkowski. Horrible takedown by Wolkowski or perhaps it was just good defense by Chamakh which made him look bad. Wolkowski darts in looking for a takedown but Chamakh gets double underhooks and turns Wolkowski into the cage.

Wolkowski misses with a right hand and Chamakh counters with a shoot takedown. Wolkowski fights it but they end up in guard. Wolkowski keeping full guard, as Chamakh tries to pass. Wolkowski has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Wolkowski has Chamakh pulled in close to control his posture. Wolkowski tries to land a sweep but no joy. Karim Chamakh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Chamakh trying to control but Wolkowski is working from the bottom. We've been hearing that Chamakh has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Chamakh is in close to Wolkowski's body, working some short punches and elbows. Chamakh throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Chamakh with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chamakh scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wolkowski is trying to keep Chamakh in close.
Chamakh postures up and lands a big shot to Wolkowski's brow. Chamakh scoring with punches to the head and body. Chamakh is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Wolkowski wants to control but Chamakh passes easily into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Wolkowski is trying to maintain the position but Chamakh is very close to passing his half guard. Chamakh prevents Wolkowski from improving his position. Chamakh thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wolkowski's head. Chamakh tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wolkowski knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Wolkowski has a hand on Chamakh's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Chamakh takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Wolkowski bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Wolkowski throws a big elbow that misses. Chamakh is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chamakh has control of Wolkowski's left arm, preventing Wolkowski from doing any damage. Wolkowski trying to control the position from guard on top but Chamakh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wolkowski loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Wolkowski wants to control from the top but Chamakh keeps moving. Wolkowski trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wolkowski throwing strikes but missing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Karim Chamakh dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Wolkowski closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Wolkowski misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Wolkowski in side control, throwing shots but Chamakh defends. Wolkowski scores with a couple of short elbows. Wolkowski working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Wolkowski misses with the ground and pound. Wolkowski postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chamakh is looking for a sweep. Wolkowski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Chamakh regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Wolkowski. Wolkowski throws a strike but Chamakh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Wolkowski not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chamakh trying to control but Wolkowski is working from the bottom. Wolkowski wants to sweep here but Chamakh controlling him for the moment. Wolkowski wants to control but Chamakh passes easily into half guard.
Wolkowski makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wolkowski. Chamakh wants to control from the top but Wolkowski keeps moving. Wolkowski looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chamakh cracks Wolkowski with a solid left hand. Karim Chamakh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chamakh is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Wolkowski throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Wolkowski wants to control the position but Chamakh says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Damian Wolkowski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wolkowski taking some punishment here, with Chamakh in his half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chamakh is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Chamakh is looking to take a break and control but Wolkowski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Damian Wolkowski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Chamakh has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
