Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Milan Lucic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cavan Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lucic might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Shots. Cartwright is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Irish Fighting Song. Milan Lucic could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Cavan Cartwright's chin.

The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Lucic.
Lucic seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Lucic gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cartwright to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cartwright content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Lucic is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lucic is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cartwright is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Lucic is pulling down on Cartwright's head. It's preventing any offense from Cartwright, at least for the moment.
Lucic wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Milan Lucic just wasn't active enough.
Lucic dips to his left and cracks Cartwright with an uppercut!

Cartwright is looking to clinch but Lucic is avoiding it.
Lucic scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Lucic pivots, looking for a leg kick but Cartwright is out of range and Lucic settles back down.
Lucic thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cartwright if he has to take too many more of those.
Cartwright showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lucic.
Lucic throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Lucic throws a body punch but Cartwright moves out of range.
Cartwright shoots for a double leg takedown but Lucic sprawls well. He's pushed Cartwright's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cartwright tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Lucic counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cartwright has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lucic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cartwright throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lucic escapes and throws Cartwright's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Cartwright managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Lucic.
Cartwright is looking for a sweep.

Lucic wants to take a breather but Cartwright manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Lucic.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cartwright lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lucic!
Lucic wants to control but Cartwright is having none of it.
Cartwright breaks from Lucic's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cartwright prevents Lucic from getting the reversal.
Cartwright scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Lucic's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cartwright cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

It looks like Milan Lucic has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lucic tries to lock up and control but Cartwright gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Lucic wants to hold on but Cartwright pushes him away.
Lucic wants to get back to his feet.
Lucic is in all sorts of trouble here.

Cartwright is landing with some decent strikes but Lucic is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Cartwright has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lucic wants to hold on but Cartwright pushes him away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A relieved looking Cavan Cartwright thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
