Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ruarc Lacy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antoni Kristofer Hong! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lacy gets a takedown into half guard. Hong should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Hong moves into full guard.
Lacy wants to pass the guard but Hong is keeping the position. Hong throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Hong tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hong is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lacy forces his way into half guard. Lacy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hong is trying to get back to full guard. Hong is trying to maintain the position but Lacy is very close to passing his half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lacy not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The fighters are battling for position here. Hong manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Hong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lacy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hong circles away. Hong has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Lacy avoids the body shot from Hong.
Hong throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Hong lets loose with a powerful body kick. Lacy will feel that in the morning. Hong jabbing away but nothing is landing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hong leaves Lacy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Lacy walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Hong stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hong wants it to stay on the feet. Lacy gets a clinch. Lacy jumps guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Hong trying to control the action but Lacy is working from the bottom. Lacy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hong on the ground. Lacy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lacy. Lacy has his foot on Hong's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hong works his way back into a safe position though. Lacy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hong is aware though and is defending well. Hong wants to control from the top but Lacy keeps moving. Lacy trying to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hong is in close to Lacy's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hong wants to control from the top but Lacy keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Antoni Kristofer Hong will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
An inside leg kick lands from Hong. Lacy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lacy shoots for a double leg takedown but Hong sprawls well. He's pushed Lacy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Lacy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lacy trying to control the position from guard on top but Hong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hong is pulling down on Lacy's head to control his posture. Hong keeping moving, preventing Lacy from controlling successfully. Hong trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lacy stands and throws Hong's legs to the side, diving into side control. Lacy wants to control but Hong is keeping him busy. The strikes coming from Lacy are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Lacy tries for a kimura but Hong is defending well. Hong is not content to let Lacy control the position. Lacy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hong knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Lacy won't allow Hong to sweep him here. Hong bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lacy's guard. Lacy looking for a sweep. Not yet Lacy, not yet. Hong wants to control from the top but Lacy keeps moving. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lacy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lacy is trying to control the position but Hong postures up. Hong tries to free his leg and advance position but Lacy is retaining full guard. Lacy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
