PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Galen Mcguire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Hitoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Galen Mcguire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lee Hitoshi!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hitoshi tried to score with a low kick but Mcguire checks it.

Hitoshi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mcguire, pushing him back against the cage.

Hitoshi is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mcguire is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hitoshi to the mat. Hitoshi regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Mcguire will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hitoshi controlling the position.

Hitoshi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcguire doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcguire manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hitoshi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mcguire wants to control from the top but Hitoshi keeps moving.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hitoshi can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Galen Mcguire.

Hitoshi moves into the clinch.
Hitoshi with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Mcguire has Hitoshi pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hitoshi manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hitoshi wants to get back to striking at distance but Mcguire won't allow it.
Mcguire really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

It looks like Galen Mcguire has been cut.

Hitoshi has picked Mcguire up - he's going for a ride! Hitoshi dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Hitoshi is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Mcguire still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Mcguire has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Mcguire working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mcguire taking a break here but Hitoshi is having none of it and regains half guard.
Hitoshi has a hand on Mcguire's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mcguire takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Hitoshi wants to control but Mcguire is having none of it.

Mcguire with shots to the head and body - Hitoshi looks very uncomfortable down there.

Mcguire has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Galen Mcguire will probably get the nod.

Mcguire throws a sloppy head kick and Hitoshi moves out of range easily.

Hitoshi has managed to clinch.
Mcguire wants a takedown.
Hitoshi stalling.
Mcguire prevents Hitoshi from breaking the clinch.

Hitoshi manages to pull guard.
Mcguire won't allow Hitoshi to get back to his feet.
Mcguire trying to control but Hitoshi is working from the bottom.
Mcguire is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hitoshi is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hitoshi is breathing heavily.
Mcguire's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Galen Mcguire has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Hitoshi dives in and scores a takedown into Mcguire's guard.
Mcguire tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mcguire looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hitoshi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Mcguire gets back to full guard.
Hitoshi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mcguire is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hitoshi wants to control from the top but Mcguire keeps moving.
Mcguire is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hitoshi dives into side control.

Hitoshi has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Mcguire gets caught flat footed, as Hitoshi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hitoshi looking to sit in guard and control but Mcguire gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mcguire controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcguire wants to control from the top but Hitoshi keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Galen Mcguire.

Hitoshi moves into the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hitoshi is pressed up against the cage. Mcguire has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hitoshi down to the mat. Hitoshi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Mcguire is looking for a takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Hitoshi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Mcguire doesn't manage to clinch there - Hitoshi circles away.
Mcguire tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hitoshi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hitoshi takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Hitoshi blocks a head kick by Mcguire.
Hitoshi pushes Mcguire away with a front kick.
A slapping body kick lands there for Mcguire.
Hitoshi lands with a right hand.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hitoshi moves into the clinch.

Hitoshi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcguire tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hitoshi cracks the inside of Mcguire's front leg.

Hitoshi clinches up against the cage.
Mcguire is working for takedown but Hitoshi is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hitoshi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Galen Mcguire is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hitoshi gets to his feet - Mcguire follows without any prompting.

Hitoshi gets a double leg takedown into Mcguire's guard.

Mcguire tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hitoshi cracks Mcguire with a solid left hand.
Mcguire wants to hit a switch here but Hitoshi passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mcguire there!

Mcguire is working hard here to advance position.

Mcguire is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hitoshi sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Hitoshi is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mcguire has managed to escape the submission attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lee Hitoshi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hitoshi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
