Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Trevor Kazarian! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Perez! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez lands a slapping body shot.
Perez throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Kazarian throws a nice head kick!
It looks like Richard Perez has been cut. A punch combination from Kazarian misses. Perez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A swing and a miss from Perez. Kazarian moves in looking to clinch but Perez pushes him off. Kazarian takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kazarian tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Perez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Perez avoids the head kick by Kazarian.
Kazarian walks into a jab. Kazarian misses with a series of wild punches.
Perez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kazarian.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perez cracks a nice hook into Kazarian's ribs. Kazarian uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Perez. Kazarian tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Perez thows a left - swing and a miss! Perez connects with a right hand. Kazarian shakes it off. Perez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Perez getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Perez misses the shot to the body. No joy there for Perez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Perez has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Perez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Perez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Perez swings widly with a right hand
and Kazarian counters with a head kick. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kazarian lands a big head kick that sends Perez tumbling to the mat! Kazarian takes a step backwards and waves Perez back to his feet - he wants the finish! A big right from Perez misses. Perez misses with an uppercut. Good exchange - Perez coming out on top. Perez swings for the body but Kazarian moves out of range.
Perez takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kazarian lands a left and a right that send Perez crashing to the mat, dazed. Kazarian thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Perez is rocked! Kazarian fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Perez out cold! Brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Trevor Kazarian! In his post fight interview, Trevor Kazarian started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
