Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Wagner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Phoenix's choice of entrance music: Phoenix. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Wagner! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Phoenix! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wagner fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Phoenix has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Phoenix throws a head kick that misses. Wagner misses with a left hand and Phoenix connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A nice leg kick lands there from Wagner. Wagner throws a front kick that sends Phoenix stumbling back into the cage. Wagner throws a jab but it's blocked by Phoenix. Phoenix throws a head kick but Wagner moves out of range.
Wagner keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Phoenix. Phoenix has managed to clinch.
Phoenix keeps control of Wagner as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Phoenix misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wagner.
Wagner goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Wagner manages to break the clinch.
Wagner swings for the body but Phoenix moves out of range.
Wagner displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A cross from Phoenix lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wagner misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Phoenix.
Phoenix on the wrong end of a nice jab. Wagner looks to land a right hand but Phoenix moved out of range. Ryan Wagner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Phoenix showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wagner.
Phoenix wants to clinch. Wagner throws a lazy uppercut
and Phoenix counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wagner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Phoenix manages to avoid it. Wagner moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Simon Phoenix has been cut. Phoenix works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Phoenix walks into a left hand. Danga de danga de dang - Phoenix scores with a four punch combination! Wagner has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Wagner throws a right and a left that both miss. Wagner misses with a straight left.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lazy body kick from Phoenix and Wagner counters with a nice body kick. The fight stays on the outside here - Phoenix looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wagner scores with a body shot.
Phoenix staying out of range there. Phoenix scores with a spinning back kick! Wagner bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Wagner gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Phoenix misses with a few strikes there.
Jab by Phoenix. Wagner throws an overhand right that lands on Phoenix's shoulder, as Phoenix tries to avoid the shot. Wagner on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Phoenix lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A big left from Phoenix misses. Wagner throws a lazy right hand but Phoenix sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Phoenix avoids the body shot from Wagner.
Phoenix swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wagner takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. A decent looking cross lands there for Wagner. Phoenix pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Phoenix throws a sloppy head kick and Wagner moves out of range easily. Wagner lands a nice shot to the body.
Wagner jabs Phoenix right on the nose. Phoenix blinks but takes it well. Wagner moves into range and connects with a jab. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wagner bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Phoenix's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wagner circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wagner misses with a body punch
letting Phoenix counter with a right hand. Phoenix fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Wagner moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Wagner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wagner ducks under a wild hook from Phoenix. Phoenix cracks Wagner with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Wagner throws a poor cross that misses
and Phoenix counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Wagner with a hook. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Phoenix lands a slapping body shot.
Wagner throws a jab but it's blocked by Phoenix. Phoenix throws a leg kick but Wagner sees it coming and moves out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Wagner will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Simon Phoenix's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Phoenix throws a jab when Wagner was well out of range. Wagner lands a glancing blow to the side of Phoenix's head. Nice shot lands for Wagner. Phoenix wants to slow Wagner down by chopping away at his legs. Phoenix wants to clinch. Wagner moves into range and connects with a jab.
Phoenix is rocked! Wagner thuds a left hand into Phoenix's body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A big left from Wagner misses. Nice body punch from Wagner. Wagner dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Wagner lands with a nice body punch. Wagner listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wagner sizes up Phoenix with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Phoenix is still on wobbly legs! Can Wagner finish him? Phoenix gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Wagner points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Phoenix wakes up just in time to hear Wagner thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ryan Wagner! Ryan Wagner retains his welterweight title!
