Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antone Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antone Maddox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Cross! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cross tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cross misses with a hook to the body
and Maddox counters with a stiff right hand. Cross tries to land a body kick and Maddox counters with a one-two to the body. Maddox scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Cross tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cross tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cross misses with a few strikes there.
Cross shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Maddox napping and manages to drive through into side control! Cross is looking to take a break and control but Maddox is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Maddox bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Cross tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cross decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Cross tries to pass the half guard into mount. Maddox knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Cross sitting and controlling from the half guard. Maddox wants to get back to his feet. Cross not doing much here.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Chris Cross. Cross throws a body punch but Maddox moves out of range. Cross moves in looking to clinch but Maddox pushes him off. Maddox circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cross misses with a hook
and Maddox holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Maddox lands an uppercut. A short uppercut from Maddox. Maddox lands an elbow inside. Maddox tries to stall but Cross uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Cross is trying to force a seperation but Maddox has the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cross manages to pull guard.
Cross has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Cross working for a triangle but Maddox defends it easily.
Maddox throws a big elbow that misses. Maddox got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cross has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Maddox has managed to get both his arms back between Cross's legs - danger averted. Cross is trying to control the position but Maddox postures up. Maddox is looking to stand up but Cross won't let him. Cross is trying to keep Maddox in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Maddox throwing strikes from guard but Cross blocks nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cross looking to control.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Cross was stalling too much, according to the referee. Cross forces Maddox back against the cage and clinches. Cross wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cross jumps into guard, dragging Maddox to the mat.
Cross working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maddox doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maddox manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Maddox throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cross works some decent striking defense from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Maddox with a flurry of punches that miss. Maddox throws a big right hand that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Cross dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Cross misses with an attempted mid kick.
A head kick by Cross misses and Maddox counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Maddox. Maddox really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Cross tries to land knees in the clinch but Maddox avoids the damage to the body. Cross drags the fight down to the ground.
Cross is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Maddox has his hands clasped together but Cross extends and breaks Maddox's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Cross.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Chris Cross!
