Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Grind (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Egor Sumovan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Grind has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johnny Grind!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Egor Sumovan!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Sumovan.
Sumovan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sumovan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Grind throws a head kick but Sumovan moves out of range.
Grind has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Grind is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sumovan's half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Sumovan is not content to let Grind control the position.
Sumovan wants to get back to full guard.
Sumovan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sumovan.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grind is breathing heavily.
Grind wants to stand but Sumovan is controlling his posture from full guard.
Sumovan trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Sumovan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Grind stops Sumovan from standing up.
Sumovan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Egor Sumovan was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Sumovan throws a series of punches but Grind avoids them all with ease.
Sumovan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Grind looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Grind decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Sumovan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sumovan stands and throws Grind's legs to the side, diving into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sumovan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Grind sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Sumovan tries to move to mount but Grind blocks the move with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sumovan decides to stand back up. Sumovan steps back and let's Grind get back to his feet.
Sumovan misses with a few strikes there.
Grind has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Sumovan.

Sumovan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Grind!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Sumovan fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Sumovan wants to control but Grind is keeping him busy.

Sumovan moves into full mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sumovan tries to control but Grind wriggling away.
Grind knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sumovan on the ground.
Sumovan working away from the top, dropping strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee warns Grind that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Sumovan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Sumovan tries to control but Grind wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Egor Sumovan dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sumovan cracks the inside of Grind's front leg.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sumovan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sumovan throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Grind.
Grind looks for a takedown but Sumovan sprawls well.
Sumovan tries to clinch but Grind moves out of range.
Grind circles away from the clinch attempt
and Grind counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sumovan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Egor Sumovan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Grind gets caught flat footed, as Sumovan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sumovan trying to control the position from guard on top but Grind is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sumovan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Sumovan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sumovan tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Sumovan trying to control the action but Grind is working from the bottom.
Sumovan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Grind haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Grind wants to control but Sumovan postures up.
Sumovan lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Grind down.

Sumovan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Grind wants to get back to his feet.

Sumovan decides to stand back up. Sumovan steps back and let's Grind get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sumovan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Grind to the ground. Sumovan is now in Grind's guard.

Sumovan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Grind has his hands on Sumovan's head, controlling the position.
Sumovan wants to control from the top but Grind keeps moving.

Sumovan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Grind working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sumovan.
Sumovan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Grind keeping moving, preventing Sumovan from controlling successfully.

Grind is working an open guard so Sumovan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sumovan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sumovan connects with a body shot that sends Grind's belly button to the back.
Grind is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sumovan.

Sumovan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Sumovan decides to stand back up. Sumovan steps back and let's Grind get back to his feet.
Johnny Grind is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sumovan lands with a kick to the temple. Grind shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Grind shoots in and bounces Sumovan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Grind wants to pass the guard but Sumovan is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Egor Sumovan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Grind shoots in for a takedown but Sumovan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sumovan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Grind gets caught napping as Sumovan dives in and scores a takedown. Grind manages to retain guard.
Sumovan wants to control from the top but Grind keeps moving.

Grind prevents Sumovan from moving into mount.

Grind is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Sumovan is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Grind to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Grind shrugs it off.

Well Sumovan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
