PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Knapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Rocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knapp comes to the cage accompanied by Go to Sleep. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Knapp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Demian Rocha!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Knapp catches Rocha right on the button with a cross.
Knapp lands a nice looking body shot.
Nice defenses there by Rocha.
Nice cross by Knapp.
Knapp with a hook.
Horrible takedown by Rocha or perhaps it was just good defense by Knapp which made him look bad.
Knapp tests Rocha's chin there with a solid looking shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Knapp clinches up with Rocha and pushes him back against the cage.

Knapp's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rocha swats away the attempt to clinch by Knapp.
Knapp throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Rocha steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Knapp.
Knapp scores with a nice strike.
Rocha displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Knapp throws out the jab.

Rocha shoots in and gets a takedown into Knapp's guard.

Rocha has gone for a leg lock! Knapp slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rocha's guard.
Rocha looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rocha has Knapp pulled in close to control his posture.

Rocha looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Knapp passes into side control.
Rocha is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

You can see the frustration on Rocha's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Knapp wants to stand but Rocha is controlling his arm.
Rocha is trying to improve his position.

Knapp stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Rocha manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Knapp on his heels. He'll look to pass Knapp's guard now, I'm sure.
Rocha loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Knapp wants to stand and escape but Rocha is having none of it.
Rocha with a flurry of punches that miss.
Rocha in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rocha postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rocha throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Knapp works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Rocha looking to sit in guard and control but Knapp gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rocha is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Knapp is aware though and is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Knapp trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rocha's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Knapp dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Knapp lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Knapp throws a half hearted mid kick.
Knapp wants to clinch.
Knapp throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rocha on the side of the head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Knapp wants to clinch up but Rocha keeps it at a distance.
Rocha cracks a nice hook into Knapp's ribs.
Rocha checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Rocha swings for the body but Knapp moves out of range.
Knapp lands with a cross.
Knapp looks to throw the jab but Rocha is out of range.
Knapp throws a head kick that misses.
Knapp tries to clinch but Rocha is having none of it.
Knapp swings widly with a right hand
and Rocha counters with a two punch combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Knapp lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rocha circles away quickly and effectively.

Rocha tries to keep at a distance but Knapp has taken the fight into the clinch.

Knapp blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Knapp is trying to force a seperation but Rocha has the dominant position.
Knapp tries to throw a body punch but Rocha avoids it by throwing Knapp back against the cage.
Rocha tries for a takedown but Knapp manages to get underhooks.
Rocha's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Rocha lands a nice knee to the body.
Knapp lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Knapp prevents Rocha from breaking the clinch.

Knapp breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Knapp keeps the fight on the outside.
Knapp connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Rocha fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Knapp pushes Rocha up against the cage in a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Knapp lands with a light punch inside.

Knapp breaks the clinch.
Rocha fails to land the takedown.
Peter Knapp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Rocha.

Knapp leaves Rocha with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rocha tries to keep at a distance but Knapp has taken the fight into the clinch.
Knapp lands a body punch.

Rocha breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Knapp changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Knapp throws a head kick but Rocha moves out of range.
Rocha throws a solid leg kick but Knapp takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Rocha.
Rocha gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Knapp misses with a two punch combination.
Knapp tries to close the distance and clinch but Rocha swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Knapp tries to clinch but Rocha is having none of it.
Knapp swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Rocha fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Knapp to the ground. Rocha is now in Knapp's guard.
Rocha loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rocha with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rocha looking to sit in guard and control but Knapp gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rocha has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rocha wants to sweep here but Knapp controlling him for the moment.

Rocha is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Rocha has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Knapp can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rocha is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Peter Knapp will probably get the nod.
That's time! Knapp's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Knapp tries to clinch up but Rocha circles away and keeps his distance.
A big left from Knapp misses.

Rocha closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Knapp did well to prevent Rocha getting side control.
Knapp tries to kick Rocha off but Rocha keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Rocha is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Knapp sees it coming and defends easily.

Knapp blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rocha.
Knapp regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Rocha.
Demian Rocha has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rocha wants to stand but Knapp is controlling his posture from full guard.
Knapp is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rocha is controlling him.
Peter Knapp is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Knapp wants to get back to his feet but Rocha is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rocha accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rocha's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Rocha throws a big right hand that misses.

Rocha drops back, looking for a kneebar! Knapp looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Knapp looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Knapp!

And that's the end of the fight!
Demian Rocha comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Knapp has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Peter Knapp tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
