PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ox Raman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raman comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Who let the dogs out kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ox Raman looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, King Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ox Raman!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Diaz.
Raman scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like King Diaz has been cut.

Raman moves into range and clinches up with Diaz.
Diaz jumps guard but Raman turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Diaz misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Knees to the body from Diaz.
Raman throws a knee to the head but misses.
Diaz tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Raman avoids it.
Diaz keeps control of Raman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Raman looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Diaz is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Raman gets a trip takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Diaz wants to control but Raman is keeping busy.
Diaz is pressing down on Raman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Raman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Raman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Raman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Diaz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Raman!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Raman wants to control but Diaz is having none of it.
Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Raman is looking to escape.
Raman is wriggling around trying to escape.
Raman wants to hold on but Diaz pushes him away.
Raman is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Raman tries to reverse the position but Diaz maintains control.
Raman wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Diaz.
Raman is looking to improve his position but Diaz isn't that keen on the idea.
Diaz looking to control but Raman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Diaz thowing shots but they're missing.
Diaz trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Diaz working for a guillotine from mount but Raman is in no mood to give up.
Diaz landing punches.
Raman tries to hold on but Diaz postures up.
Raman working to try and regain half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Diaz misses with a head shot.

A close round but Ox Raman will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on King Diaz's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Raman throws a sloppy head kick and Diaz moves out of range easily.
Diaz misses with a hook

and Raman moves into the clinch.
Diaz fails to pull guard.
Diaz jumps guard but Raman turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Diaz drags the fight down to the ground.

Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Raman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Raman controlling from the top position.
Raman throwing strikes from guard but Diaz blocks nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Raman wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position.
Raman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Raman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Diaz keeping moving, preventing Raman from controlling successfully.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ox Raman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Raman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Diaz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Raman is one step ahead there.
Raman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Raman is stalling in the full guard.
Raman would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ox Raman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Raman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Raman is breathing heavily.
Diaz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Diaz working a defensive guard here.
Diaz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Diaz wants to sweep but no luck.

Diaz is working an open guard so Raman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Raman gets control of Diaz's arms and successfully pulls guard. Raman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Raman looking for a sweep. Not yet Raman, not yet.
Raman has Diaz pulled in close to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ox Raman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on King Diaz's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Raman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Diaz sprawls well initially but Raman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Raman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Diaz moves into full guard.
Raman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Raman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Raman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Raman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Raman is looking to stand up but Diaz won't let him.

Ox Raman has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Raman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Diaz is trying to defend but Raman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Raman stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Raman trying to control from half guard but Diaz is working away.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Diaz scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Raman manages to mount him!
Diaz is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz gets back to half guard.
Diaz wants to improve his position but Raman is controlling well.
Diaz trying to control but Raman postures up.
Diaz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Raman.
Raman wants to free his trapped foot but Diaz is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Raman wants to stand up but Diaz is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Raman wants to pass the guard but Diaz is defending well.
Ox Raman has got the better of the ground game so far.

We're going to have a standup here because King Diaz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Diaz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Raman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Raman looking to score a takedown here. Diaz is defending well but Raman drives through and ends up in Diaz's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Raman is looking to stand up but Diaz won't let him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ox Raman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Raman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Ox Raman started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
