Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Miroslav Lazanski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shin Jie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miroslav Lazanski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shin Jie!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lazanski throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jie was covering up waiting for the punch and Lazanski finishes the takedown easily into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lazanski stops Jie from standing up.
Lazanski preventing the sweep.
Lazanski controlling from the top position.
Jie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lazanski seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Miroslav Lazanski wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lazanski swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Shin Jie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jie closes the distance but Lazanski moves to the side

and Lazanski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jie's guard now.
Lazanski looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Lazanski postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Lazanski is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lazanski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lazanski has managed to get both his arms back between Jie's legs - danger averted.

Lazanski is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lazanski's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lazanski controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Jie wants to sweep but no luck.

Jie is looking for a triangle but Lazanski pushes his legs off easily.
Lazanski is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jie has momentary wrist control but Lazanski slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lazanski is one step ahead there.
Lazanski connects with a couple of short punches.
Lazanski works over Jie with some ground and pound from guard.
Lazanski not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Lazanski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lazanski is in close to Jie's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lazanski slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Miroslav Lazanski has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lazanski.
Jie tries to improve position but can't.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lazanski is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jie's shoulder. That is not cool.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lazanski is trying to get an arm triangle but Jie is defending well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miroslav Lazanski dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Lazanski feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jie is looking for a triangle but Lazanski pushes his legs off easily.

Jie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lazanski doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lazanski manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lazanski seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jie for as long as he can get away with.
Jie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Lazanski sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Miroslav Lazanski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Miroslav Lazanski just wasn't active enough.
Jie throws a head kick that misses.
Jie shoots in for a takedown but Lazanski shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lazanski shoots in but no luck this time.

Lazanski shoots in and bounces Jie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jie is breathing heavily.

Lazanski controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

and Lazanski counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jie is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Lazanski tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Lazanski is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jie's half guard.
Jie has a hand on Lazanski's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Lazanski takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Lazanski controlling the positon.
Jie is still in real trouble! Can Lazanski finish him?
Lazanski lands shots from the back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jie is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Lazanski cracks Jie with a big right hand from the back mount! Jie immediately covers up and the referee dives in to save him under a barrage of more strikes! Lazanski takes this one by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Miroslav Lazanski!
