Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raphael Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Ezequiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Raphael Chapman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Christian Ezequiel! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! That kick from Ezequiel tenderised Chapman's leg. Chapman is trying to keep his angry face on. Ezequiel shoots in for a double leg but Chapman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ezequiel tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chapman defends well and Ezequiel ends up having to push Chapman into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Ezequiel stops a takedown attempt from Chapman.
Chapman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Ezequiel tries to circle away but Chapman has him pinned against the cage. Ezequiel blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Ezequiel has eaten all the pies! Chapman is looking to take this one to the mat. Chapman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ezequiel pulls his leg out and moves away.

Ezequiel with a lazy takedown attempt and Chapman counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Chapman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. That's going to take a lot out of Christian Ezequiel. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ezequiel. Ezequiel shoots and misses and Chapman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Chapman. Ezequiel is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Ezequiel is breathing heavily. Chapman fails to pull the fight into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chapman with the ground and pound but Ezequiel uses the opportunity to regain guard. Chapman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Chapman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Chapman throws a big right hand that misses. Chapman trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ezequiel's guard. Chapman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Chapman postures up in Ezequiel's guard and throws a big left but Ezequiel blocks it.

Chapman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Chapman prevents Ezequiel from improving his position.

Chapman throws a right hand that Ezequiel ducks under and follows up with a left that Ezequiel also avoids with ease. Ezequiel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chapman tries to avoid it but Ezequiel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chapman to the ground. Chapman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ezequiel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Chapman tries to clinch but Ezequiel moves out of range. Ezequiel misses with a takedown attempt and Chapman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ezequiel's guard now. Raphael Chapman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christian Ezequiel. Ezequiel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ezequiel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Chapman manages to get himself to full guard.

Ezequiel wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Chapman's closed guard. He's half up but Chapman has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Chapman pivots and extends the arm, Ezequiel falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Chapman! Well done that man!
