Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jared Mcconnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juro Shiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Juro Shiro will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcconnell looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Shiro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mcconnell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Mcconnell could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Shiro is looking for a triangle but Mcconnell pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shiro has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mcconnell is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Shiro.

Shiro tries to sprawl but Mcconnell drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Shiro wants to control but Mcconnell is keeping busy.
Shiro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mcconnell pulls his head out easily.

Shiro is looking for a sweep. Mcconnell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Shiro has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Mcconnell escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Mcconnell!
Mcconnell stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Shiro throws a half hearted mid kick.
Shiro avoids the head kick by Mcconnell.
Shiro closes the distance and pushes Mcconnell back into the cage.

Mcconnell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mcconnell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mcconnell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mcconnell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shiro is one step ahead there.
Shiro slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shiro is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mcconnell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Shiro gets a clinch.
Shiro tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mcconnell smiles and moves away.
Shiro fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mcconnell, pushing him back against the cage.
Mcconnell dodges an elbow strike from Shiro.
Shiro jumps guard but Mcconnell stands there with Shiro around his waist. Shiro gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Shiro tries to stall but Mcconnell uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Mcconnell has hold of one of Shiro's legs. Shiro is fighting the takedown attempt but Mcconnell gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Shiro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcconnell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcconnell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shiro looking for a guillotine here but Mcconnell defends easily.
Shiro working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mcconnell has passed into half guard!
Shiro is breathing heavily.

Mcconnell is working for a submission of some sort.
Shiro with the active half guard here but Mcconnell passes nicely into side control.
Mcconnell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shiro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Shiro tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Shiro is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Mcconnell controlling the pace for now.
Shiro tries to reverse the position but Mcconnell maintains control.
The referee warns Shiro that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Shiro is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Shiro manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Mcconnell perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mcconnell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shiro sees it coming and defends easily.
Shiro tries to get to full guard but Mcconnell has control of the leg.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close second round but Juro Shiro will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Shiro looks to land a right hand but Mcconnell moved out of range.

Shiro throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Shiro clinches up with Mcconnell and pushes him back against the cage.
Shiro struggles to land a body shot inside as Mcconnell controls his hands.
Shiro lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Shiro goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Shiro is looking to control Mcconnell's arms but Mcconnell gets an underhook and turns him. Now Shiro has his back to the cage.
Mcconnell takes an elbow to the forehead.
Mcconnell fails to pull guard.
Shiro tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Mcconnell has picked Shiro up - he's going for a ride! Mcconnell dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Shiro is trying to maintain the position but Mcconnell is very close to passing his half guard.

Shiro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mcconnell is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Shiro has managed to free his arm - good work.
