Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ronaldo Hispanyola! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cesys Kazlauskas! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hispanyola gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kazlauskas holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kazlauskas works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Hispanyola trying to control the position.
Kazlauskas trying to control the position from guard on top but Hispanyola is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hispanyola throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Kazlauskas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hispanyola is keeping the position for now. Kazlauskas makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kazlauskas accidentally thumps the mat. Hispanyola is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kazlauskas throws a big elbow that misses. Kazlauskas is looking to work some ground and pound but Hispanyola has wrist control. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kazlauskas working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Hispanyola is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hispanyola is pressing down on Kazlauskas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kazlauskas is holding on for now. Kazlauskas gets back to full guard.
Hispanyola slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hispanyola stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kazlauskas swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kazlauskas is looking for a guillotine. Kazlauskas is doing well to control the position and prevent Hispanyola from advancing to side control. Hispanyola wants to advance to full mount but Kazlauskas doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Kazlauskas looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Hispanyola tries to free his leg and advance position but Kazlauskas is retaining full guard. Hispanyola avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hispanyola wants to control from the top but Kazlauskas keeps moving. Kazlauskas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hispanyola is aware though and is defending well. Hispanyola trying to control but Kazlauskas is working from the bottom. Hispanyola won't allow Kazlauskas to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hispanyola working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. That's four minutes gone in the round. Hispanyola won't allow Kazlauskas to get back to his feet. Kazlauskas keeping moving, preventing Hispanyola from controlling successfully. Kazlauskas has his hands on Hispanyola's head, controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hispanyola pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kazlauskas is keeping the position for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hispanyola moves into the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kazlauskas struggles to land a body shot inside as Hispanyola controls his hands.
Kazlauskas has picked Hispanyola up - he's going for a ride! Kazlauskas dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kazlauskas is nestled in close to Hispanyola, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Kazlauskas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cesys Kazlauskas dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Hispanyola tries to clinch up. Ronaldo Hispanyola is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hispanyola gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kazlauskas to score an easy takedown into full guard. Kazlauskas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hispanyola is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cesys Kazlauskas has got the better of the ground game so far. Kazlauskas landing with the ground and pound. Kazlauskas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hispanyola swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kazlauskas drops back looking for a leg! Hispanyola is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hispanyola manages to kick Kazlauskas off! Kazlauskas jumps back into Hispanyola's guard. Hispanyola lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kazlauskas! Kazlauskas sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Hispanyola seems to be looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hispanyola wants to work for an arm triangle but Kazlauskas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kazlauskas tries to roll over but Hispanyola keeps him under control. Hispanyola is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kazlauskas sees it coming and defends easily. Kazlauskas is looking to control Hispanyola's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kazlauskas avoid being mounted? Kazlauskas moves into full guard.
Kazlauskas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hispanyola can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kazlauskas trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hispanyola drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kazlauskas looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kazlauskas looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kazlauskas! Kazlauskas lands some shots froms side control. Kazlauskas working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hispanyola is trying to improve his position. Kazlauskas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hispanyola keeps working. Hispanyola wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hispanyola is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kazlauskas tries for a kimura but Hispanyola is defending well. Hispanyola is trying to get back to half guard. Kazlauskas goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hispanyola rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Kazlauskas's guard! Nice work there by Hispanyola! Kazlauskas keeping full guard, as Hispanyola tries to pass. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kazlauskas is trying to stand and escape. In the scramble, Hispanyola has locked hold of an arm and he's managed to lock on an armbar - Kazlauskas taps out instantly and this one is all over!
