Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Boniface Boccasio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcelo Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Boniface Boccasio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcelo Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Boccasio counters with a nice double leg into side control. Taylor won't be happy with that.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Boccasio advances to full mount.

Boccasio is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Taylor has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Boccasio controlling the pace for now.
Taylor keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Taylor tries to lock up and control but Boccasio gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Taylor can do anything to dispel that myth.

Boccasio can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Taylor is looking to escape.
Boccasio manages to capitalize on a mistake by Taylor to take his back!
Boccasio struggling to keep hold of the position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Boccasio has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Taylor has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Taylor wants to get back to full guard.

Boccasio seems to be looking for submissions.
Boccasio trying to control from Taylor's half guard. Taylor has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Taylor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boccasio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Taylor looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boccasio is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Taylor looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Boccasio wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.

Taylor controls Boccasio momentarily but Boccasio frees himself.
Boccasio trying to control but Taylor is working from the bottom.
Taylor is looking to sweep but instead, Boccasio has passed into half guard.
Boccasio wants to pass the guard but Taylor is defending well.
Boccasio prevents Taylor from improving his position.

Boccasio trying to mount his opponent but Taylor defends it.
Taylor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Taylor trying to control but Boccasio postures up.
Taylor is looking for a sweep. Boccasio is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Boccasio is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Taylor defends it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Taylor shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Boccasio counters with a shoot takedown. Taylor fights it but they end up in guard.
Boccasio wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.
Taylor tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Taylor is still trying to improve position.
We've been informed that Taylor has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Boccasio has gone for a leg lock! Taylor slips out almost immediately though and dives into Boccasio's guard.
Boccasio can't keep his opponent in guard - Taylor advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Boccasio is defending against the submission attempts here by Taylor.

Boccasio has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Taylor is working away from the top position though.
Taylor is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Boccasio!
Boccasio is controlling an arm, preventing Taylor from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Taylor avoids the attempt from Boccasio to control.
Taylor fails to advance to Boccasio's back.
Boccasio wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Taylor.
Boccasio tries to hold on but Taylor postures up.

Taylor with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Taylor lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Boccasio is looking to get to half guard.

Taylor is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Boccasio has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Boccasio!
Taylor is trying to keep Boccasio in close.
Taylor wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Boccasio is now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boccasio is taking a breather. Taylor says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Boccasio is just content to waste time from the top position. Taylor takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Taylor working for submissions but it's allowed Boccasio to get to half guard.
Taylor won't allow Boccasio to pass to mount.

Boccasio is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Taylor is just riding it out for now. Boccasio eventually gives up the hold.

Boccasio looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Boccasio is trying to control. Taylor wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Taylor is pressing down on Boccasio's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Boccasio slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Taylor is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Boccasio is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Boccasio can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Taylor is looking to escape.
Taylor has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Boccasio's lack of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Boniface Boccasio will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Taylor darts in looking for a takedown but Boccasio gets double underhooks and turns Taylor into the cage.
Taylor doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Boccasio is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Taylor can't fight it off and eventually Boccasio manages to take the fight to the floor. Taylor looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Taylor manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Boccasio wants to hold on but Taylor pushes him away.
Boccasio has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Taylor looking to break Boccasio's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Boccasio remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Taylor will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Taylor keeps control of the position as Boccasio tries to break free.

Boccasio is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Taylor is trying to stick to Boccasio's back but Boccasio is turning into Taylor. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Taylor's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Boccasio.

Taylor is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Boccasio jumps into side control!

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Boniface Boccasio.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boccasio, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
