These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Soprano throws a head kick but Thompson moves out of range.
Soprano fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Thompson checks it well.
Soprano throws a leg kick but Thompson sees it coming and moves out of range.

Soprano throws a sloppy head kick and Thompson moves out of range easily.
Soprano doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Soprano is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Soprano bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Thompson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Soprano.
Thompson lands with a hook. Soprano tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Thompson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Thompson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Soprano moves into range and clinches up with Thompson.
Soprano swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Thompson tries to stall but Soprano uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Soprano.
Soprano gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
