Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Percy Whitley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Grout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Grout acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Percy Whitley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Grout! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grout clinches. Whitley keeps control of Grout as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Whitley changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Grout fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Grout clinches up against the cage. Whitley has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Grout is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Whitley is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Grout gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Percy Whitley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Whitley has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Grout is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Whitley jumps guard and drags Grout to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Grout wanted to stand there but Whitley had control of the position. Grout slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Whitley working for a triangle but Grout defends it easily.

Whitley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Grout sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Whitley's guard. Grout is trying to work for a kimura but Whitley is defending well.
Whitley tries to get to full guard but Grout has control of the leg. Grout trying to control from Whitley's half guard. Whitley has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Grout postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Whitley really is a fat lump. Whitley keeping full guard, as Grout tries to pass. Grout must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Grout pushing down on Whitley's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Grout is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grout moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Whitley.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grout swings around for an armbar but Whitley sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Grout's guard. Grout is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Whitley cracks Grout with a solid left hand. Whitley is working Grout over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Whitley throws a big elbow that misses. Whitley chips away with some ground and pound. Whitley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Whitley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Grout is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Grout is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Whitley decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Grout throws a right hand that Whitley ducks under and follows up with a left that Whitley also avoids with ease. Grout avoids the head kick by Whitley.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Grout closes the distance and clinches. Whitley is trying to trip Grout. He has hold of a leg but Grout is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Whitley persists though and gets the takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Percy Whitley will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Whitley clinches up with Grout and pushes him back against the cage. Grout is pressed up against the cage. Whitley has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Grout down to the mat. Grout avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Grout shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Whitley pinned against the cage. Whitley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Grout misses with a takedown attempt and Whitley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Grout gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Whitley counters with a nice body shot. Percy Whitley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Grout. Whitley scores with a nice strike. Whitley has closed the distance and engaged Grout in a clinch.
Grout tries to pull guard but Whitley forces him back to his feet, against the cage. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Whitley takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Grout is breathing heavily. Grout prevents the takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whitley taking a breather. Grout breaks the clinch.
Grout shoots and misses and Whitley counters with a three punch combo that has Grout backing up. Grout nods at Whitley to acknowledge the strikes. Grout blocks a head kick by Whitley.
Whitley with a body punch. A glancing blow. Whitley looks to land a right hand but Grout moved out of range. Whitley throws a shot from downtown. Grout moves away and avoids it. Grout blocks a head kick by Whitley.
Whitley clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whitley swings wildly with an uppercut but Grout uses good head movement to avoid it. Whitley has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Grout is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Grout has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Whitley uses from the top position. Grout looking for subs off his back but Whitley has passed one foot through into half guard.

Whitley working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Whitley with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Whitley landing strikes from the mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Whitley lands a couple of good shots and Grout has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Grout really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Whitley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Whitley looking to break Grout's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Grout remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Whitley will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Whitley lands a shot to the body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whitley has the hooks in. Grout is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Whitley is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Grout with him. Grout is trying to defend but Whitley has an arm under the chin now! Grout grimaces and is forced to tap out!
