Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Lugh Blackburn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robb Wells! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wells with a poor takedown and Blackburn counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Robb Wells has been cut. Wells misses with a shot to the body and Blackburn counters with a stiff right hand. Robb Wells seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wells shoots in but Blackburn avoids the takedown attempt easily. Blackburn takes a swing at Wells's ribcage but misses. Wells shoots in looking for a takedown but Blackburn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wells's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Lugh Blackburn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robb Wells. Wells shoots in for a double leg but Blackburn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Wells misses with a body shot.
Wells looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. We've been told by Blackburn's head coaches at The Scrapyard that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Blackburn works Wells's body with a nice hook. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Blackburn tests Wells's chin there with a solid looking shot. Wells looks winded! Blackburn connects with a superb combination that knocks Wells out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Blackburn before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Wells!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Lugh Blackburn! In his post fight interview, Lugh Blackburn started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
