Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hendo Riggs! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andres Tiburcio! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tiburcio throws a low kick but Riggs avoids it. Tiburcio has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Hendo Riggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tiburcio throws a poor cross that misses
and Riggs counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Tiburcio wants to get back to his feet. Tiburcio is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tiburcio can do anything to dispel that myth. Riggs throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Riggs throwing shots but Tiburcio is blocking nicely. Riggs throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Riggs working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Tiburcio's thigh. Tiburcio counters though and makes it back to full guard. Riggs throws a big elbow that misses. Tiburcio utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riggs trying to control but Tiburcio is working from the bottom. Tiburcio wants to stand but Riggs is controlling the position. Tiburcio is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Riggs dives into side control.
Riggs working the ground and pound but Tiburcio is defending the strikes. Tiburcio is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Riggs is controlling him well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Riggs tries to move into full mount but can't pass Tiburcio's legs. Riggs controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tiburcio avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Riggs. Tiburcio really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Riggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Riggs throws a strike aimed at the side of Tiburcio's head but Tiburcio avoids it well. Riggs throws an elbow but Tiburcio slips to the side and avoids it well. Riggs misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Riggs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Riggs throwing strikes but Tiburcio manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Riggs is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Riggs wants to improve his position but Tiburcio is controlling well.
Riggs is trying to maintain the position but Tiburcio is very close to passing his half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Andres Tiburcio hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Tiburcio connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Riggs momentarily.
Riggs looks to score with a jab to the body but Tiburcio is just out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hendo Riggs dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Riggs throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Tiburcio scores with a jab to the body. Riggs rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tiburcio connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Tiburcio tries to move into range but Riggs moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Tiburcio ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Riggs uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tiburcio. Riggs misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Tiburcio.
Riggs throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tiburcio sees it coming and avoids it easily. Tiburcio misses with a looping right. Riggs throws an overhand right that lands on Tiburcio's shoulder, as Tiburcio tries to avoid the shot. Tiburcio swinging wildly here.

Nice defenses there by Tiburcio. Tiburcio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Riggs.
Riggs throws a predictable looking body shot
and Tiburcio counters with a nice uppercut. Riggs showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tiburcio.
Tiburcio throws a hook to the side of Riggs's head but Riggs sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Tiburcio getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riggs lands a jab to the nose. Riggs lands a body shot.
Riggs throws a shot from downtown. Tiburcio moves away and avoids it. The fighters circling - Riggs throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Riggs throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Riggs checks a leg kick. Nice uppercut there from Tiburcio. Tiburcio looks to land a combination but Riggs avoids it well. Riggs scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Tiburcio throws a jab but it's blocked by Riggs.

and Riggs counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Riggs. Riggs looking to sit in guard and control but Tiburcio gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Riggs looking for a sweep. Not yet Riggs, not yet. Tiburcio must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tiburcio has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Riggs is proving hard to escape from. Riggs is pulling down on Tiburcio's head. It's preventing any offense from Tiburcio, at least for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riggs misses with a straight right. Tiburcio throws a jab but it's blocked by Riggs. Riggs looks to score with a jab to the body but Tiburcio is just out of range. Tiburcio cracks Riggs with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

and Tiburcio counters with a one-two to the body. Riggs misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Tiburcio counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Tiburcio throws a jab when Riggs was well out of range. Riggs moves out of range as Tiburcio strikes. Tiburcio lands a jab to the nose. Riggs misses with a straight left. Riggs misses with a body punch
and Tiburcio counters with a straight right hand. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Tiburcio, as that shot connected.
A slow jab from Riggs misses its intended target. Hendo Riggs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tiburcio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Riggs.
Tiburcio's corner calls for a 1-2. Tiburcio obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Tiburcio misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Riggs counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tiburcio won't be happy with that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Riggs working the strikes but Tiburcio uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Tiburcio wants to get back to his feet. Riggs throwing shots but Tiburcio is blocking nicely. Tiburcio is looking to escape. Riggs throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Riggs throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riggs is keen to just control but Tiburcio is a slippery customer. Riggs thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Tiburcio is not content to let Riggs control the position. Andres Tiburcio has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Riggs working Tiburcio over with strikes. Riggs scoring with strikes to the body and head. Tiburcio flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Riggs is looking to take a break and control but Tiburcio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Riggs wants to free his trapped foot but Tiburcio is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tiburcio regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Riggs. Riggs is pushing down on Tiburcio's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tiburcio is fighting to maintain full guard but Riggs has managed to sneak the leg through. Riggs throwing shots but Tiburcio is blocking nicely. Riggs is trying to control the action in half guard but Tiburcio is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Riggs thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Riggs not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Hendo Riggs showed his dominance in that final round. Well Riggs has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
